Rosetta Tordis stools, July 29th , 2017. The food that we eat is broken down into smaller particles with the help of wave-like muscle contractions that push food particles further down from the esophagus to the stomach. This process helps in churning food into a liquid mixture called chyme. As chyme moves back and forth in the small intestine, nutrients are extracted and assimilated into the bloodstream. The wave-like contractions in the large intestine facilitate the absorption of water into the bloodstream, and the waste that is left behind after the absorption of chyme and extraction of water, is excreted out of the body in the form of stool. Stool is the principle waste product of digestion.

Mari Holzer stools, July 31st , 2017. There is this green fluid known as bile that is secreted or produced by the liver. This fluid goes into the small intestine or it gets stored in the bladder. It is required for the absorption of fat and fat soluble vitamins. Also, the fluid is responsible for making the feces soft, and giving them the typical brown color. As the bile progresses, it changes from green to yellow and finally to brown. So in most cases, passing green stool means that the food must have passed through the intestines at a faster rate than normal, before getting changing to brown. This is known as decreased bowel transit time, and a malfunction such as this may be caused by conditions such as diarrhea. Also, stress may affect the normal digestion process and speed it up, again decreasing the transit time, thus, resulting in green stool.
Doubravka Tamara stools, July 29th , 2017. As we all know, the bile (digestive juices) mixes with the food once it reaches the small intestine. Bile, which is green in color, promotes breakdown of fats to boost digestion. Thus, the food attains green color when it enters the small intestine. Undigested green food is diverted to the large intestine, where it changes to light brown. This happens because of bacterial activity in the large intestine. However, if the undigested food has traveled at a faster pace through the large bowels, there will be hardly any interaction between the stool formed and the bacteria present in the large intestine. As a result, the stool color doesn't change to light brown and instead appears green.
